Lucy’s Warbler on Ocatillo at Michael Perry Park 4-18-13
Spring is in full swing here in Arizona with plants a-bloomin’ everywhere! I’ve been out birding, birding, birding like crazy with friends and fellow bloggers. With the temperature heading into the upper 90’s I will be staying home more. Perhaps I will finally get caught up on my blogging! Until then, enjoy the blooming desert!

Turkey Vulture seen through the blossoms of a Palo Verde tree 4-25-13
You know spring has returned when the turkey vultures are soaring overhead. Seen through the haze of Palo Verde blossoms it has its own beauty. After riding a wave of up and down temperatures we’ve settled into a pattern of warm days and cool nights, but the real heat is about to settle in here with our first 100 degree day expected sometime at the beginning of May.
National Poetry Month is almost over. Tomorrow is the last day. I’ve manage to write or post a poem almost every day and I will get one done for tomorrow, along with a new blogpost for Kathie’s Birds. I have so much to get caught up on, but how can I stay inside when there are so many birds to be seen outside! Be sure to click on the links to see more birds and fellow bloggers!
So beautiful. The Ocotillo blooms are gorgeous. I think the white flowers are Yucca. Was the branch upright? I so love that first shot. You have no idea....that's perfection.
ReplyDeleteChris, I think they are yucca as well. The main stalk was upright but then these branches came out horizontally from them. The pic was taken at Michael Perry park. Thanks for taking a look!
DeleteHi Katie...Stunning blooms everywhere they are all gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't pick a favorite if I had to ! : )
Turkey Vultures arrived here around the 14th of this month...love to watch them!!
Grace
Grammie g, I'm glad they are back in your neck of the woods!
DeleteOh, I absolutely love the warbler on the ocotillo! You should paint that! Gotta love a bloomin' desert! By the way, the lazuli buntings showed up yesterday in my yard!
ReplyDeleteKathryn, you know, you are right. I have had such an urge to paint lately! I would love to see a lazuli by the way!
DeleteSo much bright color in you bloomin' desert. Love the ocotillo. The Turkey Vultures were in Yarnell about two weeks before I left to announce spring. I've not seen them that early. Watch out for that heat.
ReplyDeleteGaelyn, when I collected this bunch of photos I was amazed at all the color!
DeleteThe incredibly bright colours in a desert landscape is not what some may expect but it is just like a science experiment, add a little water and it explodes. Wonderful photos Kathie of all the stunning cacti, Mexican bird of paradise, Palo Verde, Ocatillo, Penstemon and your thriving roses. Love the composition of Ocatillo and Lucy's Warbles. This was a real treat.
ReplyDeleteArija, it is so beautiful right now! I am glad you liked it!
