An Almost Winter Beach-Revere

Skywatch Friday!

Gus and I took a ride out to Revere Beach on November 21 just to see what we could see. there were not a lot of birds there other than seagulls and the wind was biting cold, but I was happy we went.  Little did I know that counting birds in revere would add a new county to my list of counties I have counted birds in! Revere is in Suffolk county and I counted only 6 species of birds here:

  1. Great Black-backed Gull
  2. Herring Gull
  3. Ring-billed gull
  4. White-winged scoter
  5. Rock pigeon
  6. European Starling

There were many more scoters out on the water but it was too cold for me to get too close and I do not have a spotting scope! I took photos but everything is just a black dot.  This one obliging bird was the closest in. Not a great photo but you can at least see what it is.

  2. Love the colors in that second photo. Nice contrast between beach, water, and roofs.

  3. I love going to the beach in the winter especially when you don't have to share it with anyone but the birds :)

  4. This beach does have the look of a cold winter day. But I believe you'd find birds anywhere you went Kathie.

Welcome to my nest! I hope you will enjoy spending time here with me and the birds. Thank you for your comments. I will try to get back to you as soon as I get back from counting more birds.
