Winter Solitude Sky

Stirling Bog 1-16-11

What winter sky can I reach,

what solitude have I

on this sunny day,

this cold day in winter

when no birds sing?

Yet at each branch tip

in buds tightly wrapped,

red against a cerulean sky,

I see the promise of spring.
